Introduction to Jonathan Laurans & AZpostconviction.com

Dec. 2, 2021

In nearly 30 years of handling criminal and civil appeals, and post-conviction litigation in several States and in our Federal court system, what I hear most often from clients is that the single thing they want more than anything else is for their attorney to be easily accessible to them. I embrace this idea, and maintain open lines of communication with clients and their families to form a better prepared and stronger team. Once you become a client, you will not be obstructed, ignored or stonewalled by secretaries or staffers. I personally communicate with you, and work hand-in-hand with you as I research, investigate, and defend your loved one's case.

Post-Conviction Litigation; Appeals, Civil and Criminal

I am an experienced post-conviction litigator and appeals attorney with experience in both civil and criminal appeals. I handle post-conviction cases at the State and Federal court levels, often referred to as: “Rule 32″ cases in Arizona, or “2254″ or “2255″ cases in the federal system. (These terms and numbers refer to the laws which authorize post-conviction cases and instruct how they are to be filed and litigated.) Clients know that when they are in a desperate legal situation, they can only trust a post-conviction appeals attorney with years of experience and proven results. If you are interested in discussing your pressing post-conviction case, appellate matter, or other legal issue, please do not hesitate to schedule an appointment and consultation with me. You or a family member or friend may be in need of state or federal appellate or post-conviction representation, so please do not delay. I will confer with you about the particulars of your legal matter, and will share with you my extensive State and Federal appellate and post-conviction case history.

Post-Conviction & Appellate Experience

My success as a Kansas City post-conviction and appellate attorney spans almost three decades, beginning back in 1994 with a Kansas Supreme Court victory and two successful Federal habeas corpus wins which resulted in both clients being immediately released from prison. These first two post-conviction cases were both notable. In early 1995, I won the release from Federal prison of the former Lieutenant Governor of Kansas, who was punished excessively and illegally for tax evasion. Months later, using ‘habeas corpus,’ I obtained the release from prison for the first inmate ever freed to receive a heart transplant. Other appellate and post-conviction victories are discussed on this website, in the section displaying case results.
